Re: [californiadisasters] What DO we do....?

Great post Pam!
I felt it in San Diego and know "Earthquakes" rolling, jolts, shakes etc. In 1970's I actually saw the street ripple in a wave.  Sorry, don't have the language that you would use, but living in San Diego since the 1950's kinda used to what goes on.  Different States have different issues, I don't know anything about tornadoes and when I was in Iowa I just kept driving.
Most people will never ever be prepared for Earthquakes/Fires here in California ~ get a Red Cross Kit ~ lights, know where to turn off everything.  Put a backpack full of copies/etc. in the trunk of your car since no one knows when disaster strikes...we are not wizards!  Be Knowledgeable, BE PREPARED!!!!  Also, make sure when you do a HOPEFUL disaster plan you include your PETS PLEASE!!!  Living in California I keep 3 dog crates to help out with fires!
Never know and don't put this off ~ tis IMPORTANT!
Thanks again Pam!

We all hear 'be prepared' but it so rarely goes beyond, Have a kit ready and know what to do', and no one really spells out, "First, do this, then do that, then do the next thing'. Maybe someone should, for the people like me who don't watch TV anymore, don't hear a lot of news, and so on.

Just thinking....

I would not trust Kapersky. Try Avast or AVG, but NEVER Norton either.

[californiadisasters] Emergency Management Research Survey

Greetings Everyone,

Thank you to those of you who have completed my survey, this message serves as a reminder for those of who have not completed it.  As I mentioned previously my name is Steve Detwiler and I'm a working on my Master of Science degree in Emergency and Disaster Management with the American Military University.  I'm currently completing the capstone course which requires a research paper.

The topic I've chosen for my research paper is the interactions between United States local, State/Territory and Tribal emergency managers with their jurisdiction's museums.  Museums are defined by the International Council of Museums as non-profit permanent institutions that are open to the public.  These institutions acquire, conserve, research, communicate and exhibit artifacts for the purposes of study, education and enjoyment.  Examples of museums can be natural or historical museums, art museums, special collections, historical societies or archives.

You will find below a link to an anonymous survey from Survey Monkey.  There is a total of 19 questions, and it should take you 6 minutes to complete.  All responses will be kept strictly confidential, will not include any identifiable information in the presentation of the results, and the responses will be anonymous. The data will be presented in an aggregated form, meaning I will present averages, medians, and results of correlation/regression analyses, etc. By taking this survey, you provide informed consent to use your responses in my paper.. I ask that you complete the survey by Tuesday, April 9th.

Here is the link to the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LK8KHPJ

If you would like a copy of my research paper, please feel free to request it from me at: steveorange2003@yahoo.com

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Steve Detwiler
