...NEAR RECORD HEAT EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ON--
WEDNESDAY...
STRONG HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT AND OFFSHORE FLOW WILL BRING MORE HOT AND
DRY WEATHER ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THROUGH THURSDAY. WEDNESDAY
SHOULD BE THE HOTTEST...WHEN SEVERAL RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES COULD
BE SET OR TIED ACROSS THE AREA. AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WILL SOAR
INTO THE 80S AND 90S...EXCEPT AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN THE MOUNTAINS.
SOME CURRENT RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES FOR WEDNESDAY...
BIG BEAR LAKE................71 SET IN 1999
RIVERSIDE FIRE...............96 SET IN 1997
VISTA........................93 SET IN 1976
IDYLLWILD....................79 SET IN 1980
PALOMAR MTN OBSERVATORY......76 SET IN 1967
SAN DIEGO....................93 SET IN 1921
ALTHOUGH IT WILL BE VERY HOT DURING THE MID DAY...THE AIR WILL BE
VERY DRY AND THE HUMIDITY LOW. WHERE WINDS ARE LIGHT OR THE AIR CALM
OVERNIGHT...TEMPS WILL DROP INTO THE 60S.
VISITORS...TOURISTS...HIKERS...AND ANYONE WORKING OUTDOORS THROUGH
THURSDAY SHOULD TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PREVENT HEAT
RELATED STRESS AND ILLNESS. AVOID STRENUOUS OUTDOOR ACTIVITY IF
POSSIBLE. IF YOU HAVE TO BE OUTSIDE AT MID DAY...DRINK PLENTY OF
WATER. WEAR LIGHTWEIGHT LOOSE-FITTING CLOTHING AND WEAR A HAT TO
SHIELD YOURSELF FROM THE SUN.
HIGH PRESSURE WILL WEAKEN FRIDAY TO ALLOW THE SEA BREEZE TO BRING
COOLING TO ALL AREAS WEST OF THE MOUNTAINS. THE COOLING WILL BRING
DAYTIME HIGHS CLOSER TO AVERAGE BY THE WEEKEND.
