Wednesday, March 2, 2011
(03-02) 11:18 PST WASHINGTON -- San Bruno's fire chief said today that he was not aware before last year's deadly natural-gas explosion that a major Pacific Gas and Electric Co. pipe ran under the city, although he acknowledged that it had been his responsibility to know.
"The situation on Sept. 9 wasn't something that we could ever imagine," Chief Dennis Haag said on the second day of a National Transportation Safety Board hearing in Washington into the explosion that killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes.
