Two students in Ms. Petrakis' Latin I class took home ribbons from the NM Junior Classical League's Annual Convention at the Albuquerque Academy on Saturday:
- Lauren Crabtree placed 3rd on the Mythology exam.
- Marcello Rodriguez placed 2nd on the Latin exam.
Congratulations to both of them--this is a major achievement!
Congratulations to Vocal Velocity for taking 2nd place at the La Cueva competition this past weekend.
Attention Class of 2014: We will have a meeting on Wednesday during lunch in Mrs. Wells room.
Academic Decathlon: There will be no Academic Decathlon practice this week, however, Mrs. Taylor does have the results from regionals, so stop by and see her if you would like to know how you did. We will meet again next Tuesday after school.
NHS Members: Our regular meeting will be held today at lunch. The officers will meet with ALL members, Juniors and Seniors, in H209, Ms Torres' classroom. See you at lunch today.
Academic Letter: Just a quick reminder: anyone who has not turned in their yellow academic letter application needs to get it turned in to Mrs. Webb in the 9th grade academy by Tuesday Feb. 12.
Don't forget to get that special someone a valentine carnation! We will be selling valentines starting this Friday the 8th at lunch through Wednesday at lunch. Carnation valentines will be delivered on Valentines Day to your 5th period teacher. Each valentine is only $1.50.
FIDM Fashion Club will be selling Valentines grams February 6th through February 13th at lunch in A hall, E Hall, and H Hall! Cost is only 50 cents! Grams will be delivered on Valentines Day in 6th period classes! Go buy your grams for your Valentines!
Reminder: Volcano Vista High School does not accept deliveries of flowers, candy, balloons, etc, for any student. Tell your Valentine to send It to your home.

ATHLETICS
- Can we get a quick shout out to The Dirty Bird wrestling team, we had a quad this past weekend, we only sent 10 of 14 varsity due to some injury and illness. We defeated MIYAMURA and ELDORADO. We had a lot of great individual performances, 2 that stood out were 145 lb Joshua "The Caterpillar" Griego who recorded three pins, and 170 lb "Nasty" Nate Sierra who also had three pins. Thank You all for the support. We have district championships at Cleveland High School on SATURDAY, please come and support our hard working wrestlers.
- Boys Basketball plays the Cougars at Cibola tomorrow night at 7. Lets Black-OUT their gym.
- The girls basketball teams plays the Cougars on Wednesday night in the Ring of Fire.
