SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — South Pasadena police say they've arrested a 35-year-old suspect in a series of Southern California arsons. In a release Monday, police said they arrested Javier Viera following an investigation into several suspects.
Police say they've linked Viera to the arsons through fingerprints on an incendiary device that didn't completely burn.
Police say Viera was under surveillance Sunday when he set a car on fire in Los Angeles.
Following his arrest Sunday, police say Viera admitted responsibility for the majority of 25 arsons authorities had been investigating.
The incidents often started as small vegetation fires and then burned parked cars, and once burned an exterior door to a business.
