Wow, Lin , this is gorgeous. I watched the movie referred to in the middle of this article. I had no idea these things were off the coast of Galveston. Growing up in Houston, we would go to the beach and we would always have to wear old tennis shoes out in the water. For one thing it was so murky you could not see what y ou were stepping on and for another there were always tar balls. Our shoes would be covered sometimes and my mom would make me throw them away...no tar in the house. It was impossible to get off and was much easier to just throw away old shoes. These formations are wonderful. Thanks. allison
