I know there are interesting rocks around here. I did not mean that everything was literally only sand and seashells. I just want to feel earthquakes. I've been to So Cal once and next time, I will be there for good. I appreciate your message and I am interested in the study of rocks and plate tectonics in general. I appreciate the whole Earth. Please understand that I have a certain place I belong. I collected rocks I found here in Florida for a while. My parents even found a massive fossilized coral chunk 2 summers ago. I didn't mean to complain about where I am so much. I'm just itching to move to southern California. I especially felt restless after learning about the recent temblor in southern Cali and reading people describing what they felt. It made me crazy!!!

Kylie,
There's plenty of geology where you are at. Pick up a copy of "Roadside Geology of Florida." You'll be amazed at what lies within your state. When I was taking Marine Biology at FSU, one summer, someone found a preserved sea turtle in the limestone bedding in norther Florida. What a find that was!
And as a former professor, I encourage you to continue your education. The world will unfold before you, as the more you understand, the more your horizons broaden.
Best wishes,
Lin

I'm right there with you! I live in Florida and I am dying to move to southern California(L. A./Inland Empire region). I can't deal with it anymore! I really want to feel earthquakes. Earthquakes never happen in Florida and I even have a hard time actually finding some rocks. It's all sand and seashell fragments! I'm 20 years old and I haven't been to college, but I am seeing somebody who teaches Qigong and it's helpful. I also wish you the best luck in getting to where you want to be!
