| Notes: | At about this time in 1996 a tenant of Black Mountain RV Park off of Highway 58 in San Luis Obispo County started up the engine of an old International Harvester parked in tall dry grass at the behest of the trailer park manager who wanted it moved. The ensuing week-long fire which occurred during a state-wide fire siege burned into the Los Padres National Forest within a day or so and went on to burn over Black Mountain and burn out the Machesna Wilderness Area. A total of 106,668 acres were burned along with 12 homes. | |
