The Hemet situation was a car-jacking suspect, who ultimately surrendered.

In Tustin there was a stand-off that lasted 11 hours after a man who'd lost
his job, had been evicted from his apartment, flipped out when his car was
being repossessed. He surrendered finally.

(The L.A. market TV news Websites didn't make it easy to find this, although
I did learn that Paris Hilton is being sued for wearing the wrong hair.)
