[Volcano_Vista_HS] VVHS Announcements--Monday, October 7, 2013

This week is only 3 days! Today is an A day, Tuesday is a B day and Wednesday is a C day.

This past Saturday, several students from the choral program participated in the District 7 Solo and Ensemble Festival. Congratulations to the following students received SUPERIOR I ratings:

Kiana Alvarez, Kelly Cano, Addison Flores-Thorpe, Amanda Hauck, Ryan Tate, Dylan Winn and Christina Villreal.

Homecoming tickets are on sale today for $20.00 in the Activities Office during lunch. You must have your current student ID to purchase a ticket. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend Volcano Vista please have the completed permission slip with you when you purchase your tickets. Each student is limited to one ticket and one guest.

The following Math NHS members need to meet in the freshman academy office at 11:30 to do lunch cleanup: Kymalee Chang, Jane Nyguen, Katy Beaudet, Erin Burkett, Jihyeon Ryu, Rebecca Castillo, Catherine Hernandez, Alaina Wiwi, Willie Chavez, Mithchell Yan.

New Math NHS members need to pay Ms. Conell their $25 induction fee ASAP.  Thanks to all new members that have already paid.  Next NHS meeting next Monday.

Student ambassadors for Mrs. Casaus and Mrs. Maestas will meet Wednesday October 9th during lunch in F206. 

Bowling team.  Our first practice is this coming Tuesday and there are only a few registration and physicals turned in.  Regardless of your bowling level these practices are very important in preparing for the upcoming season.  You must have your registration and physical turned into room E-209 before you can participate in any practices. 

Faculty/Staff and students: administrators will be coming by during 5th period this week and next to recognize students that received a 3.5 GPA or HIGHER for the 1^st  6 week grading period.  Close to 30% of the school population have a 3.5 GPA or higher.  Congratulations to all these students and the school challenges all of our students to push to reach this 3.5 or higher GPA goal.

Thanks to all the BSU members who participated in the Community Service this past weekend!! You represented VVHS well!!! Furthermore, there will be two meetings this week: 

• BSU Officers meeting will be on Tuesday, October 8th during lunch 
• Step-Team practice & BSU meeting will be on Wednesday, October 9th during lunch

COUNSELING:

ECademy registration for the Winter term in currently open.  If you need to recover a credit, make an appointment with your academy Counselor to sign up for the Winter Term  of ECademy which begins November 18th.  Bring $25 cash registration fee and the counselor will assist you with the rest.

 ATHLETICS:

 

 

• Cross Country: Girls 2^nd and Boys 3^rd at La Cueva Invite.  Will race on Saturday at Metro Championships at Academy
• Football:  Win over Mayfield - Will play Del Norte on Friday at Community Stadium. This is their Pink Out game.
• G. Soccer: Win over Los Alamos- Will play at Rio Rancho Wednesday at RRHS and Cleveland on Saturday at VVHS.
• B. Soccer: Win over Los Alamos and Del Norte -  Will play at Rio Rancho Tuesday and  at Cleveland on Saturday.
• Volleyball: Lost to La Cueva- ­ Will play at Del Norte Tuesday and at St. Pius on Thursday.
