 It does look a lot like coral.  Some of the structures have polygonal boundaries like colonial coral.  But if it really is sandstone that is a problem because the corals are made of calcium carbonate (as in limestone).  Might be good to take some dilute acid to drop on it and see if it fizzes - or better yet take a fragment and look closely at the structure under a magnifying glass.  If it is sandstone it will be gritty all the way through, but coral would show some structure under a close- inspection.
