Incident priority is to continue to check the spread to the North near the Mammoth Pool Reservoir. The fires northwesterly spread is still a concern.
Dark Hole Fire, CA-YNP-0057, Yosemite National Park, Mariposa Co. Location Yosemite Creek south of Tioga Rd, 1.5 miles south of Yosemite Creek CG FRA CIIMT 5 (Joseph) 770 acres, 61% contained. Fire is being suppressed by constructing handline using MIST tactics when appropriate and natural barriers where available. There is a chance of thunderstorms that may produce rain. A Yosemite National Park Type 3 organization shadowed CIIMT 5 today, and will transfer command tomorrow.
El Portal Fire, CA-YNP-0083 Yosemite National Park, Mariposa Co. Location: Near Highway 140 and community of El Portal, CA FRA CIIMT 5 (Joseph) remains in command. 4,689 Acres, 100% contained. The El Portal Fire was fully contained today. Minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering on the Northern part of the fire and well interior. Fire Suppression Repair operations have been implemented. Of the total current acreage, 3597 acres are U.S. Forest Service DPA and 1092 acres are National Parks Service DPA. A Stanislaus N.F. Type 3 organization shadowed CIIMT 5 today, and will transfer command tomorrow. |

Of the total current acreage, 3542 acres are U.S. Forest Service DPA and 985 acres are National Parks Service DPA. The repopulation in the community of Foresta has been completed. The electrical power has been restored in the community of Foresta today. The perimeter firing operation on the north side of the fire was completed. Release of excess Type 1 and Type 2 Helicopters will begin at approximately 1800 hours, 8/1. The release of excess Type 1 IHC's will begin tomorrow in the A.M., 8/2.
