This morning there have been five M4.2-4.7 events and night-before-last there were M4.6 and M4.9 events. The quake notices identify these are near Lakeview, OR, which is technically correct but rather misleading as they are actually in northwest Nevada near Wimer Place, NV. From a California perspective, this swarm which features many more smaller events is occurring northeast of Alturas, CA, east of the Warner Range and Surprise Valley.
A new swarm which is more spatially broad in focus has developed in the past 24 hours further south straddling the CA-NV border between Goose Lake and Pyramid Lake near Reederville, NV. There have been 12 events in the M1-2 range. --
