[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (July 9)



2007: The high temperature at Reno, NV, was 102° F.

2006:
Lightning sparked the Sawtooth Fire near Morongo Valley and the Millard Fire near Banning.
The Sawtooth Fire burned 62,000 acres, caused considerable damage in Pioneertown and killed a man.
The Millard Fire burned 24,000 acres.

2006: The Canyon Wildfire ignited burning more than 33,000 acres, including portions of eastern Santa Clara County.

2002: It was 101° F in Idyllwild, the highest temperature on record and the earliest date with a 100° F reading of the season (the latest 100° F reading of the season occurred on 7.18.1960, making a window of only ten days).
This all-time high also occurred on 7.17.1960.

1998: Lightning struck a large house in Henderson, NV, and set it on fire.
The house was totally destroyed with damages totaling $1.5 million at the time.

1974: Tahoe City recorded 1.63" of precipitation.

1905: Stretch of 5 days in a row of 110° or better at Fresno comes to and end.
Fresno had the following highs during this stretch: 112° F, 111° F, 111° F, 115° F, and 113° F.
The later 3 still stand as record highs for those days.
