1971: A strong Mono Wind event occurred during the evening hours producing wind speeds estimated at over 70 mph across Yosemite National Park by the U.S. Park Service. Over 200 trees were downed here and the ski lift at Badger Pass was severely damaged.
Trees also fell down in the North Fork and Big Creek areas of the Sierra National Forest.

A couple of big rig trucks were blown over on U.S. Highway 395 northwest of Inyokern in northern Kern County.
A wind gust of 76 mph was recorded at the airport in Inyokern around noontime, and a gust of 99 mph was measured at a remote site in Indian Wells Canyon.
This system even brought low elevation snowfall in the Sierra Nevada foothills during the morning
hours, and snow fell as low as Three Rivers, or west of the entrance to Sequoia National Park along Highway 198 (at an elevation of around 850 feet).
Well below average temperatures also resumed by the following evening, as another intrusion of Arctic air arrived from Canada.
