[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (April 15)



2009: A cold upper low brought the latest snow ever known to fall in the season in the Las Vegas Valley with flurries spotted from Summerlin to Henderson, NV. 

2003:
1.16" of rain fell in Victorville, the greatest daily amount on record for April.

2002: A cold front generated strong winds across the Kern County deserts with Mojave clocking a 104 mph gust.

1998: Palo Alto only had a high of 57° F. 

1988: 1.53" of rain fell in 24 hours in Death Valley, about three-quarters of the average annual rainfall.
Normal for the season is 2.33" (1971-2000 normal).
April average is only 0.12".

1978: The Padres' home game against the San Francisco Giants was rained out at (then) San Diego Stadium.

1970: The compiler of this record was born in Pasadena, CA, and thus began a walking, talking weather-loving disaster!

1966: Pismo Beach set a record monthly high of 98° F. 

1922: The low temperature at Tahoe City (west shore Lake Tahoe) was 8° F.
