08/29/2017 7:30 PM:

CA-BTU Ponderosa fire, 600 acres, 0% contained. Short range spotting and torching observed. Continued structure threat, Mandatory evacuations in place. Multiple structures destroyed. VLAT assigned.

CA-SKU Owens fire, 20 acres, 55% contained burning in grass and timber. Forward rate of spread stopped. Threat to the Union Pacific Railroad and 60kV powerlines have been mitigated. Fire is located one mile south of the Oregon border.

CA-NOD Mud fire, 1000 acres, 10% contained burning in grass and brush. Moderate rate of spread, no structures have been lost, threat to Tuscarora Natural Gas pipeline.

National Weather Service Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning for thunder storms and strong outflow winds from 1700 today through 1200 Wednesday for Eastern Lassen and Modoc Counties, also for Alpine County east of the Sierra Crest from 1400 today through 2300 this evening. CA-SCU Mines fire, 44 acres, 80% contained.

CA-HIA Translator fire, 30 acres brush and timber forward rate of spread has been stopped.

CA-KNF Salmon August Complex, 17,938 acres timber, 19% contained. Unified Command with Forest Service CA-IMT2 (Fogle) and CALFIRE (Bravo). Fire behavior increased today due to hotter, dryer weather. Wallow fire 12,825 acres and 19% contained with a confine strategy. Island is 1,692 acres and 60% contained. Mary fire is 142 acres and 10% contained with a monitor strategy. Fire is posing a threat to 400 residences and 15 nonresidential commercial properties along Saywers Bar Road, Snoozers Ridge, the City of Etna, and Western Scotts Valley including Scotts Valley High school and Elementary School. Threats to numerous endangered species habitats, private timbers lands and ancestral land for the Shastean and Karuk people. Forest road, trail, and area closures in effect.

CA-MDF Boles Fire: 310 acres grass, brush, 85% contained. Minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Crews continue to mop up and secure the fire perimeter.

CA-SRF Orleans Complex, 11,257 acres timber and brush, 51% contained. CA-IMT2 (Young) assigned. Active fire behavior with short range spotting, flanking and backing. Spot fires were confirmed at distances up to 1/4 mile. Threat to Ukonom lookout, communication infrastructure, significant cultural sites for the Karuk Tribe, Klamath River water shed, spotted owl, bald eagle, and salmon habitat, and the historic Fowlers cabin. The Ukonom Fire 4,176 acres and 52% contained with a confine strategy. The Haypress fire is 5,387 acres and 0% contained, the Burney Fire is at 1,360 acres and the Forks fire is 243 acres, all at 0% contained and a confine strategy. All other fires in the complex are under 30 acres. Locations in the fire area are experiencing unhealthy air quality due to smoke.

CA-KNF-006098 Complex, 57,977 acres timber, 24% contained. CA IMT1 (McGowan) in command. Heavy smoke moderated fire behavior. Controlled traffic continues on Hwy 96 due to the Oak fire. Multiple forest roads and trails including 15 trails in the Red Buttes wilderness have been closed. The Oak fire is currently 50,734 acres, 0% contained. Cedar fire is 5,412 acres, 0% contained; the Fourmile fire is 1,831 acres, 0% contained. These fires are being managed with a confine strategy. Threat remains to residence along the Hwy 96 corridor, private land, power and communications infrastructure, and natural and cultural resources.

CA-SHF Bradley Fire, 50 acres, 5% contained burning in brush and timber. Moderate rate of spread. Unified command with Calfire. Structure threat, voluntary evacuations lifted at 2:00 am this morning. Transmission lines and railroad are threatened.
