New start this afternoon 25 miles Northeast of Oroville,Ca.
The "Ponderosa Fire" started around 13:15 local near Ponderosa way and Lunpkin Road, the fire is burning North of the "Wall Fire"burn area from earlier this season.
The fire is burning in heavy timber and has forced hundreds to evacuate from Lumpkin rd to Forestown rd near the community of Feather Falls. Enterprise Bridge and the Lakeview Terrace areas are also evacuated.
CalFire is reporting that 60 structures remain threatened and multiple homes have been lost. 1,000 acres burned at last report.
The fire was spotting and made runs for most of the afternoon and put up a Pyro-Cumulus that was reported to be as high as 30,000 feet. The Pyro-Cumulus cloud could be seen as far South as Sacramento and after collapsing and spreading towards the Northeast is now effecting air quality in places like Quincy,ca( again) and Susanville,ca.
