Re: [californiadisasters] Thomas Incident - Ventura County

Ventura County never fully got out of the drought after last winter unlike the rest of the state.... it remained and remains under mild drought conditions.

I'm about 25 minutes away from the region and it's getting more gusty each hour.   I do not see this fire slowing down anytime soon.    By the way, it has not rained here since April.

This fire started earlier this evening and has now burned 5,000+ acres and burned an unknown number of structures along both sides of Highway 150 which it jumped.
It is moving passively towards Santa Paula to the south and Ojai to the north and is moving actively towards the City of Ventura whose east margin is under evacuation orders and will be directly impacted before dawn. Wind gusts are up to 70 mph and could be higher overnight.
Major power outages are being experienced all around Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties including Santa Paula, Santa Barbara, Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Ventura, and Carpinteria.
I ask all Cal Disasters members with info on this to please share!
