2003: The minimum temperature in Palomar Mountain was 78° F, the highest minimum temperature on record.
This also occurred on 6.29.1994 and 8.10.1978.

2002: The minimum temperature was 90° F in Borrego Springs, the highest minimum temperature on record.
This also occurred on 7.12.1968.

2002: Reno, NV, tied its all-time high temperature with a reading of 108° F for the second day in a row. Carson City, NV, recorded a high of 104° F.

1999: Thunderstorms developed over the Kern County deserts and in the Tehachapi Mountains causing heavy downpours and localized flash flooding.
A spotter recorded 5" of rain in Tehachapi in less than 4 hours.
In Rosamond, half-inch diameter hail fell and trees and power lines were knocked down.
Power poles and lines fell down north of Inyokern due to gusty winds.

1999: Flash flooding at the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Base eroded some roads as 1.6" of measured rain fell in 45 minutes.
A line of strong thunderstorms extending to the east from Barstow, moved slowly to the south producing heavy rain and gusty winds across the San Bernardino County desert.
Travel along Interstates 15 and 40 were significantly affected as heavy rain reduced visibility to near zero in some spots and runoff covered sections of road.

1999: Deep monsoonal moisture brought widespread thunderstorms to the mountains and deserts of Southern California starting on this day and ending 7.13.
Multiple storms produced rain rates in excess of 1.5" in 30 minutes.
Rainfall rates included 1.65" in less than 30 minutes at Lake Henshaw, 1.57" in 20 minutes at Big Bear City, 1.4" in 30 minutes at Sugarloaf, 1.6" in 85 minutes at Forest Falls, 1" in one hour at Pine Cove, 1" in 25 minutes at Shelter Valley.
1" per hour rain rate occurred at Phelan.
Two were killed and dozens were injured.
Six homes were destroyed and many more were damaged.
A 25 ft. wall of water rushed down Mill Creek near Forest Falls moving at 45 mph moved 70-ton boulders at Forest Falls, destroying 7 homes and damaging 46 others and killing one female resident. Area roads were covered in 10 ft. of rocks, mude, and debris.
Buildings washed away at Jenks Lake.
Disastrous flooding and mud slides occurred at Oak Glen, Big Bear City, and Apple Valley.
Disastrous flooding near Oak Glen caused heavy damage to a mile of water lines, ponds, roads, culverts, and a prison camp. Near Apple Valley, a 1 mile section of Highway 18 was flooded along with 50 homes and businesses. 
Flooding hit the Yucca Valley area, Beaumont area and Palm Springs.
Roadways were closed due to flash flooding.

1996: A weak upper-level low pressure system produced thunderstorms across the coastal plain of Ventura County.
Over 45 electrical transformers were struck by lightning, leaving over 2,500 people in Nyland Acres and Camarillo without power.
This was the first time in 18 years (since 1978) that thunderstorms occurred over the coastal plain of Ventura County in July.

1994: Paso Robles hit 115° F tying an all-time high temperature.

1980: Thunderstorm wind gusts estimated at 90 mph sank docks and 65 boats and damaged over 100 at Callville Bay on Lake Mead (Nevada shore) resulting in $2 million in damages.

1961: The low temperature in Los Gatos was a warm 76° F.

1959: Carson City, NV, had a high temperature of 101° F.
