[CaliforniaDisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (July 14)

2011: An unseasonably strong trough of low pressure was centered off the coast of California; this brought a push of cool marine air into the San Joaquin Valley that allowed temperatures to cool to around 10° F-15° F below normal.
Significant cooling occurred elsewhere throughout the central California interior.

2002: Lightning started a fire in the Spring Mountains that would be named the Lost Cabin Fire.
The fire burned 4340 acres and threatened 460 residences, 13 commercial properties, and 200 outbuildings.
The fire was contained a week later on July 20th with no injuries or lost structures.

1984: High pressure over the Four Corners and the remnants of Hurricane Genevieve combined to send a surge of moisture into the Southwest.
A large Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) developed over Arizona and Sonora, Mexico and pushed west.
Up to 3" of rain fell in Yuma, resulting in flash flooding that caused $700,000 in damage and forced 78 evacuations.
Storms dumped around 1" of rain in the deserts and mountains of Southern California.
Borrego Springs measured 1.15" and Alpine received 0.58"; both are top-five daily rainfalls for July.

1972: San Jose had a high temperature of 108
° F.

1972: The high temperature at both Reno, NV, and Susanville was 103° F.

1972: A cooperative weather observer in the Sunrise Manor neighborhood of Las Vegas records a high temperature of 121° F.

1967: Heavy thunderstorms struck the high desert of Southern California for the second day in a row.
Major highways were flooded and washed out west of Victorville.

1966: Bakersfield set a record low maximum of 90° F.
This is the only day of the entire year where Bakersfield has always had a high temperature of at least 90° F in every year since records started in 1893.

1946: Paso Robles set an all-time overnight low for July of 40° F.

1886: Los Angeles recorded its greatest 24-hour rainfall amount for July at 0.24".
