It was 8 years and 51 weeks ago that I lost 343 brother and sister firefighters, in a very brief moment of time. I’m still shocked at the loss and sadly saw it (again and again) on TV. I know they gave their last full measure, knowing it would likely be in vain. The loss of those 343 firefighters represents about 15% of what the country lost that day. I know what so many fine individuals, both citizens and guests of this country, gave along with the great loss of that day.
As a reminder, in the files section of this group there is a .pdf file of a poster I created in memory of that day. If you would like to show your remembrance of that sad day, please feel free to download a copy and post it proudly. There is no fee, other than I ask that you please take a moment of your time next week, to remember what we have given to be free (military, law enforcement, firefighters, NPS and the list is near endless). If you see someone providing a service, take a moment to thank them. It lightens their load knowing they are supported (the individuals are NOT their mission). If you like the poster, please pass it around.
Freedom isn’t free and if we forget that, we will soon lose that freedom. We still have enemies that wish to defeat us BECAUSE we’re free. It was hard fought to gain and vigilance must be observed to keep it. I’m proud to be counted amongst those (though I am now retired) that protect this nation.
Remember September; NEVER again shall it happen.
