Over the weekend, Volcano Vista's Academic Decathlon team took 2nd place at State! We had a great team performance, as well as the following individualstandouts:
- Hayley Stueber - 1st place in Essay, 2nd place in Math and Interview, 3rd place in Language & Literature and Music
- Elias McEntire - 2nd place in Economics, 3rd place in Science, Math, and Interview
- Casey Sims - 3rd place in Speech and Social Science

Attention all clubs on campus: The 2012 edition of The Hawk yearbook is looking for pictures of your groups in action. Bring your pictures to the activities office or to Mrs. Fullbright.
Attention all Seniors: We are looking for pictures of you and your VVHS friends for an end of the year presentation and for the yearbook. Please bring your pictures by activities or email them to weidner@aps.edu.
National Honor Society Members: Posted outside of Room E203 are the names of those students who are eligible for a letter, a bar, or an honor cord based on first semester grades, tutoring, and community service. If your names does not appear, we do not think you are eligible. If you believe you are eligible, please speak to Mrs. Jones immediately. Remember, you must still meet all requirements for tutoring and community service this semester in order to remain eligible.
There will be an Open Mic night in the black box theatre this Friday night.
ATHLETICS
If you are interested in the playing for the Golf Team this spring, you must contact Coach Cota as soon as possible. Our season will be starting on February 27th. The Golf Team is really looking for more girls to add to our team, and for boys with experience playing golf that can help our team get better. You must contact Coach Cota before February27th if you wish to tryout. You can find Coach Cota's email and phonenumber on the Volcano Vista High School website, under the Athletics tab.
Congratulations to the Talon dance team for placing second in their competition this past weekend.
Boys Basketball has a play off game tonight against Cibola for the district 1-5A title. The game will be at Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho at 5 this evening. Go out and support the Hawks. NOTE: They lost in overtime :(
