Incident Overview
The Pass Fire (now called North Pass) started on Saturday August 18, 2012 at approximately 2:47 a.m. The fire is in Williams Valley 10 miles north east of Covelo. The fire is actively burning in heavy timber moving northeast into the Yolla Bolly Middle Eel Wilderness. Extreme fire behavior (crowning, torching and long range spotting) have been observed in the afternoons. Firefighters both on the ground and in the air are actively fighting the fire with 732 people committed to that effort.
Effective 6:00 a.m. on August 21, 2012, Southern California Interagency Incident Management Team 3 assumed command of the fire. Current management of the fire is under Unified Command between CAL FIRE and US Forest Service. (USFS) The Incident Command Post is located at the Round Valley Airport. Please be aware of increased fire traffic in the area.
