[californiadisasters] Admin Read: 2008 NorCal Fire Siege Redux + Participate Ya'll

Achtung Gruppe!

After a few initial years of California fire seasons during the ongoing drought not quite living up to the hype and fears of what might happen (despite some fairly bad individual fires such as the Rim Fire in 2013 and the King Fire in 2014) it appears the flood gates have finally opened and the wrath of fire is enveloping our North State. Between human caused fires and lightening-starts there are scores of fires burning all across the northern 2/3's to 1/2 of the state. Whereas we had as many or more fires going simultaneously in 2008 they burned in less extreme conditions of weather and drought and national draw-down of resources. Remember: Alaska and Canada and the Pacific Northwest are already burning extensively and utilizing available resources. I have a feeling based upon how the Wragg and Rocky Fires have behaved that things are about to get real ugly and we may see some fire behavior on a scale we have not witnessed much before if ever.

I ask that our regular to semi-regular contributors step up and post updates of observations and/or passed-along info. I also ask those who always only lurk to join in and help out here. I don't want to be the primary poster here, actually. I would love to see a bunch of you contribute to this great group getting even greater. I can't always be at home let alone online and scouring the intertubes for the latest updates on events. I need ya'll to pitch in and help no matter how small or great.

Thanks in advance!
