"A stubborn wildfire continues to burn just across the California border on the East side of the Colorado River in Arizona. The "Willow Fire" started Saturday afternoon around 15:00 local near Topock South of Needles and has been burning towards the North and Northeast. The fire was reported at 6,000 acres today (8-9) and has forced the evacuation of at least 700 residents. Today the fire forced additional evacuations in Marina Cove, Tangerine Terrace, Riverview and Aqua View, strong winds have prevented containment as dozers continue to try and cut fire breaks but have had little success thus far. Fire was reported as settling down after sunset tonight. VLAT Tanker #912 has been working the fire over the last two days reloading out of San Bernardino,CA. There are also three(3) helicopters working the fire which are taking advantage of the Colorado River for scooping water. Heavy smoke has impacted air quality in Bullhead City."
