2011: Two severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for locations in the Indian Wells Valley in Kern County, mainly around Ridgecrest and Inyokern.
A 58 mph wind gust was recorded at Indian Wells Canyon, or about 15 miles northwest of Ridgecrest.
Flash flooding occurred on Garlock Road just west of U.S. Highway 395, about 20 miles south of Ridgecrest.

US95 was washed out by a flash flood 10 miles south of the Laughlin Cut-Off.
A swiftwater rescue of 5 people occurred Riverview Drive due to a flashflood.
2005: The Well Fire was of unknown origin 20 miles north of Tehachapi in the Kern County Mountains. The fire reached 120 acres in size.
The cost to fight the fire was unknown but no injuries occurred nor structures lost.
