[CaliforniaDisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (October 19)

2010: A strong upper level low pressure system brought severe thunderstorms and flash flooding to the Mojave Desert.

2010: Heavy thunderstorms dropped 0.62" in 15 minutes in Victorville. Localized flash flooding occurred.
Lightning struck a home in Wildomar and Riverside Woodcrest, and a mobile home in Hesperia.
A six-inch hole resulted in the Wildomar roof and a three-inch hole in Riverside.
The mobile home caught on fire.
In San Diego County, Alpine received 1.91" of rain and Ramona recorded 2.11", both daily rainfall records for October.

2004:
Heavy snow blanketed the Sierra from the 19th through the 21st.
Two climbers died in Yosemite National Park climbing the El Capitan Face.
Storm totals included 45" at Blackcap Basin, 40" at Gin Flat and 39" at Agnew Pass.

1992: Dense fog lead to a 31-car pileup along Interstate 15 near Rancho Cucamonga, forcing the closure of the interstate for ten hours.

1991: It was 111° F in Palm Springs, the latest date in the season to record 110° F or higher.

1990: A fast moving cold front moved across Mohave County, AZ in the afternoon hours generating extremely high winds.
The Bullhead City Fire Department reported a 79 mph gust while winds were estimated at 75 to 100 mph in Katherine Landing.
Numerous trees and signs were blown down at Katherine Landing.
Blowing dust reduced visibility in Kingman and Lake Havasu City where the Police Department described it as "blinding".

1972: A brief weak tornado touched down near Beaumont.
A violent thunderstorm struck Redlands with 2 hours of heavy rain and hail. Officially at the Redlands gauge, 0.55" fell.
Intersections in Redlands were flooded.

1966: Reno, NV had a morning low of 19° F.

1964: Pismo Beach hit 99° establishing a new record high for the month.

1963: Storms in the San Diego County desert brought heavy rain, resulting in flooding that damaged structures and washed out local roadways.
Crop damage was widespread.

1949: Fresno had its earliest freezing minimum, 30° F.
Damage occurred to vegetables and tender vegetation in the Valley.

1949: 4.5" of snow fell at Tahoe City.

1949: Campo reported a trace of snowfall, the earliest snowfall on record.  

1932: King City had a low temperature of 23° F.
