I have had a couple of people bitch and scream about my violating
copyright by even paraphrase and refer to someone, who didn't
want his gross twisting of some Orthodox Church doctrine called
out, and another person who dislike anything in her egroup being
discussed elsewhere.

Right. Somebody saying it's so does not make it so. (Of course this applies
as well to "You're hurting me." as to "I'm not doing anything.")

Even after explaining fair use she had the gall to start up again
when I referred to her overreaction on the other egroup.
Then I noticed something. The egroup I had drawn something from,
to get opinions on, consisted of reposts entirely by herself of
entire discussions from another egroup she ran, and I pointed out
that she was engaged in wholesale violation of copyright as she
understood it by doing so.

Typical human nature. The ones who accuse the most are usually the most
guilty.
