[californiadisasters] Admin Read: Selah

Ponder these facts:

While the Golden State continues to experience a lull in disaster activity the Mid-West is getting hammered by a storm that in some areas is of a historic magnitude and will move eastward to effect the East Coast.

Meanwhile, Down Under a Category-5 Cyclone Yasi is ominously bearing down upon the coast of Queensland and will invariably kill a good many people and cause extensive damage and become a national emergency for our Aussie friends. 

These and other current events should give us pause to consider not only our current good fortune but the fact that our current disaster quiescence will not last indefinitely given that this is the State of Disaster.

I urge you all to take this opportunity to check over your supplies and if you are lacking any supplies get them or have supplies getting too old that you replace them and that you check over your disaster plans and go through them with your loved ones and neighbors and co-workers. Preparedness is essential and it is your unwritten duty as a free citizen.
