Re: [californiadisasters] Re: Admin Read: Stop Shooting the Messenger

I was very fortunate to take a college course in physical geography during
Dr. George's prime. Therefore, I got from the course enough weather
knowledge to understand all that Dr. George was teaching. (And yes, he
TAUGHT us the weather! And KABC allowed him the time to do that.) (That is
really all the weather training I've had, but it has served me well.)

And yes, he was indeed entertaining. I remember two events:

1. At the start of his segment, he was standing in front of a board that had
written on it, "WHEATHRE". He explained that, "We're having the worst spell
of weather in a long time."

2. During one vacation, he was replaced with a variety of comics. One gal
came equipped with a hand on a stick, which she used repeatedly to parody
Dr. George's habit of placing his hand over his heart when emphasizing a
point.

BTW, last time I saw Dr. George, in the mid 1990s, he was getting to drive
the tiller on a ladder truck at a firefighters' muster in Pasadena. (He was
a real firebuff.)
