Those desert rats (pejorative definition being used here) out there disproportionately (albeit not all or most) tend to be the dregs of the white underclass, to wit, tweekers and welfare-mongers, folks who have criminal records and generally-speaking are anti-social people who want to be left alone by the constabulary... think of the 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes. ;-p

P.S. Explosions are as likely meth labs going up as propane tanks blowing or ammo cooking off.
