Yes, but not with the mania they did for a while. For a couple of years,
certain stations (actually, most of the stations which had copters) would
preempt any programming (except network news--contractual obligations) to
show any car chase.

They still show them, but not as often. (Possibly there are fewer, also.
Since very few if any of these purps ever got away, maybe the coverage did a

I should have sent this in. He was terriffic. He was also fortunate to be
spared the freeway-chase insanity that gripped LA TV news in the 90s. I can
remember only one real freeway chase here in the last 15 years -- and he
happened to be off or on vacation that day. Do they still do freeway chases
