2 Men Sentenced to Federal Prison For Involvement in Starting Illegal Campfire That Became Colby Fire
Posted 2:32 PM, August 4, 2014, by John A. Moreno | KTLA-TV NewsTwo men were sentenced to federal prison Monday after being convicted for their involvement in setting an illegal campfire near Glendora that developed into the 1,952-acre Colby Fire, officials said.
Clifford Eugene Henry Jr., 22, of Glendora, received 6 months and a three-year term of supervised release, according to a news release from the office of the U.S. attorney for the Central District of California. Steven Robert Aguirre, 21, of Baldwin Park, was sentenced to 5 months and a three-year term of supervised release.
Henry and Aguirre were tried together in May. Both were found guilty of four charges, including a felony and three misdemeanors, in connection with the fire. U.S. District Court Judge George H. Wu on Monday agreed to dismiss one of the misdemeanor charges.
A third defendant, Jonathan Carl Jarrell, was found guilty of unlawfully setting timber afire, a felony, and of illegally starting a fire, a misdemeanor. He is schedule to be sentenced later this month.
