[californiadisasters] [LAFD] Los Angeles Firefighters Respond to Major California Wildfires...

Pursuant to a Mutual Aid Request, the Los Angeles Fire Department has assigned one Engine Company of Los Angeles Firefighters to support a regional wildfire Strike Team:

Strike Team XLG 1362A

  • Los Angeles Fire Department - Engine 11 (from the Westlake area)
  • Manhattan Beach Fire Department - Engine 22
  • Redondo Beach Fire Department - Engine 62
  • Torrance Fire Department - Engine 93
  • West Covina Fire Department - Engine 22
  • Torrance Fire Department - Battalion 1 as Strike Team Leader
...summoned to assist the U.S. Forest Service and allied agencies in their battle against a brush fire in the Klamath National Forest north of Highway 96 near the Klamath River in Siskiyou County, California, approximately 575 miles northwest of our City.

These four personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department were dispatched to the Beaver Fire wildfire incident in accordance with the California Fire Service and Rescue Emergency Mutual Aid Plan. The plan ensures resources for jurisdictions when their own assets are committed or insufficient for an emergency incident.

The City of Los Angeles remains protected by the use of additional staff and reserve apparatus to cover foreseeable local needs.

The LAFD ask motorists to remain watchful for these and other convoys of emergency apparatus, and to provide the space necessary for them to safely maneuver and operate on local roads and highways.

Pursuant to protocol, official public and media information regarding this wildfire, including the actions of assigned LAFD personnel, will be provided by U.S. Forest Service staff assigned to the Klamath National Forest, where the fire is burning. Additional details may be posted for public view on the Inciweb system.
