2011: A funnel cloud was observed near Warner Springs (Riverside Co.).

1997:
Large swell produced by Hurricane Linda slammed into Orange County.
Five people were swept off a jetty at the Wedge in Newport Beach and were carried 300 yards out to sea before they were rescued by a passing boat.

1974: Twelve feet of water smashes through Eldorado Canyon killing nine at Nelson's Landing, NV (between Boulder, NV & Bullhead City, AZ).
Everything in the flood's path is swept into Lake Mohave.


1971: Monterey had a high of 101
° F -- a record for the month.

1971: Inyokern reached 110° F for a high while San Luis Obispo topped out at 112° F establishing an all-time record high temperature.

1969: Heavy rain from Poston to Ehrenberg (Colorado River Valley across border from Blythe, CA) caused extensive crop damage.

1929: The high temperature at Portola was 101° F.
