Acting Health and Human Services Director Eric D. Hargan has declared a public health emergency in California due to wildfires. A public health emergency declaration extends to HHS a variety of legal actions to assist in response efforts, including waiving or modifying certain Medicare, Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule requirements.
The National Library of Medicine (NLM) Disaster Information Management Research Center (DIMRC) has compiled resources to help you respond to and recover from the California wildfires. Our information guides on disaster topics and the Disaster Lit® database provide access to curated, reliable information from vetted federal, state, and local governments and organizations.
