FIREFIGHTER KILLED IN CALIFORNIA FIRE TANKER/TENDER CRASH We regret to pass on that a contract Firefighter was killed in the Line of Duty when he lost control of his water-tender apparatus on a steep Napa County roadway and rolled the vehicle off the road,. The Firefighter, who was not yet identified, lost control around 0700 hours on Oakville Grade as he was heading downhill to refill near Highway 29 north of Yountville. The Oakville Grade is one of the steepest roads in Napa County. Cal Fire said they don't know why the driver went off the road, but they will look into the possibility fatigue was a factor. There has been no break for these firefighters since the fires erupted last Sunday evening. The Nuns Fire (approaching wineries) where this water tender was very much needed continues to be a major battle. An evacuation advisory is in place just below where the crash took place. Our condolences to all those affected. Rest In Peace. BillyG The Secret List 10/16/2017-1500 Hours
