I lived only about 30 miles west of it when it erupted ..it was trully mesmerizing to watch and the lightening storms at nite were truly breathtaking..I still have a container of the ash we had in our yard....glad to hear its recovering..HHH

Thanks, Robert, for posting this info. The May issue of National Geographic also contains the same story, with many images of the new lifeforms taking hold on the volcano.
