I was 4 years old at that time Vic, and living in Tucson at the time. We got
drenched there, and that was the storm where lightning hit our house. You
don't forget those kind of things easily, even at 4 years old. Jim

Should have done a little research before posting that. The one one I was
talking about occurred in 1939, although it didn't technically qualify as a
hurricane. Oddly, 1939 saw four near-misses with fading hurricanes bringing
huge amounts of rain.

I think we've had only one hurricane make landfall in modern times, in the
mid-1930s. It hit southern California really hard, My wife's father, who
lived in Redlands at the time, remembered it washing a bulldozer down the
Santa Ana River.
