08/25/2011 | 1130 | On August 25, 1934, Shasta National Forest Supervisor John Everitt was killed on the Bear Springs Fire near Mt. Shasta when he was overrun by flames while scouting a fireline. Supervisor Everitt was the first fire fatality among the Forest Service California Region's permanent workforce.
