NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) -- Police and firefighters were on high alert Saturday morning when another rash of fires -- believed to be the work of a serial arsonist -- broke out in the North Hollywood area and spreading into the San Fernando Valley.
At least 16 new fires were reported in the pre-dawn hours in Burbank, North Hollywood, Sun Valley and the Fairfax District. Police have not yet detained a suspect, nor have they named one.
"There have been multiple pieces of information of suspect description and vehicle descriptions at the different crime scene investigations and we're culling all of that information together," LAPD Deputy Chief Jorge Villegas said during a news conference Saturday morning. "We've detained a number of people, none that we can say that were legitimately connected to this investigation at this point."
