Indeed, Allison, this post serves us best by displaying the worst in human nature where money is involved. If these gems had gone to a museum to begin with and shared with everyone, then all these separate fates would've gone much differently. But such are the choices that humans make...

Well this was really interesting. Very few of these gems had a happy history...mostly they are a testament to man's greed. Beautiful though... and the best place for gems like these is in a musuem. It's unfortunate that it almost seems like great beauty whether in a gem, man , or woman, attracts so much bad luck. Or perhaps great beauty in a person somehow restricts the focus on character building. I dunno... but a big gem almost certainly brings out the worst in human behavior, and it doesn't take much in our species unfortunately. Allison
