03/15/2012 | 0715 | Today's Drought Monitor product for California indicates the short-term drought conditions have deepened throughout the state; 4.28% more of California is now reported as being affected. This leaves virtually no areas untouched by the below-normal precipitation, and 29.71% more of California went from being classified as experiencing "Moderate" short-term drought conditions to "Severe". Although the report does not fully include the latest series of storms we are experiencing, the data through March 13 indicates only .11% of the state as "Normal" (down 4.28% from last week), 9.75% as "Abnormally Dry" (down from 20.37% last week), 44.41% as "Moderate" (down from 59.22% last week), and 45.73% of California as "Severe" (increasing from 16.02% last week). |

03/14/2012 | 0630 | In memorium - On March 10, 2005, a helicopter crash on the Sabine NF in Texas claimed the lives on three ignition personnel. Pilot Joe Gonzales, FMO Charles Edgar, and Helitack Superintendent John Greeno were all killed when their helicopter crashed soon after takeoff. 03/13/2012 | 1330 | Much of the GACC has so far received precipitation with this first storm of the week, and the the Eastside PSA is forecasted to receive precipitation beginning later this afternoon. See ROMAN for precipitation totals. However, Today's Weather Story issued by National Weather Service in Sacramento is forecasting that the storm after this one will be warmer and snow levels will rise to approximately 7000' by Thursday.
