According to the LA Times, it will cost $10 mil and will be paid for via private donations.

One day, if humanity survives itself, someone from the future will dig up this site and the big flurry will be --is it an erratic? When they finally figure out why this rock is so out of context with its environment, guess who's going to look very foolish. Wait, they already do, don't they? lol
