Re: [Geology2] 20 Years Later, Mt. Spurr Eruption Proves Seminal in Tracking of Ash Clouds

Ok, so I'm bragging a little I guess. ;-).

It was the right choice to lay low and let the wet front pass (TV day). This morning the sky has a rare blue pollution in patches with an unusually bright object creating shadows causing all things to shrink in fear into the remaining gray.   Still no views of the other side of the Cook Inlet.

This second AK trip has been planned for a few years now (the point of getting and upgrading the trailer for extended use; *NOT* tent camping in a rain forest this time).   But we're not seeing many critters at all, even birds (few eagles too).  Bear scat in the last camp, but no bears seen.  It's more people crowded this trip too and the drivers have adopted the CA style (NOT polite).  Dismayed overall.

We know there are eagles/spruce grouse/sea otters in/near Homer.  We *should* be seeing more moose.  Bears *should* be eating the spawned out red fish (sockeye).

Heading to an RV park today for flush/fill/laundry/vac.  We've been dry camping (cheap!) over a week and it's time.  Glacial flour permeates everything <<drip, drip, squint, blink, achoo!!>>  and the 'roads' don't mitigate that (didja ever hear of using a grader?). ;-/

Of course, thats one of the prices we pay; we strive to be in BFE as much as possible.  That's our cathedral.
