2012: A thunderstorm moved northeast across the western half of the Las Vegas Valley and intensified over Summerlin before heading toward North Las Vegas.
Hail up to 1.25" in diameter fell in Summerlin and portions of North Las Vegas.
10,000 insurance claims were filed for hail damage to vehicles producing an estimated 50 million dollars in damages.
This is the costliest storm ever with respect to hail damage in Las Vegas.
2011: An unseasonably strong trough of low pressure was centered off the coast of California; this brought a push of cool marine air into the San Joaquin Valley that allowed temperatures to cool to around 10-15° F below normal.
Significant cooling occurred elsewhere throughout the central California interior.
2010: An easterly wave brought widespread showers and thunderstorms to inland areas.
One of the more intense storms affected Borrego Springs, where a strong downburst downed power lines and tore a roof from a building.
1998: It was 94° F in Big Bear Lake, the highest temperature on record.

1985: A large Mesoscale Convective Complex (MCC) over Sonora,Mexico sent a surge of moisture into Southern California, resulting in strong thunderstorms that caused havoc throughout the mountains and deserts. One storm cut power to the Palm Springs Aerial Tram, stranding 145 people, who were later rescued by helicopter.
Heavy rains from the same storm inundated the tramway parking lots and closed parts of Highway 111.
Separate storms flooded more than 50 homes in Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms, and downed a small plane near Mormon Rock (killing all three aboard).
1984: Thunderstorms in the afternoon brought heavy rains to the Kern County portion of the southern Sierra.
Flooding occurred in Goat Ranch Creek with 5 homes damaged.
1981: A severe thunderstorm with winds estimated at 80 mph struck Roll, AZ (Yuma Co.) and damaged farm machinery, sheds, 3 crop dusting planes, a hangar, houses, and power lines.

1972: Lodgepole in Sequoia National Park reached 91° F, establishing an all-time record high for any month (also set on July 18, 1998).
1970: The high temperature at Reno, NV, was 103° F.
1955: The high temperature in Fresno reached 102° F.
There were only the 4 days all month where the mercury reached into the triple digits in Fresno, which tied 1903 for the least number of days of 100° F or better in the month of July.
The average temperature in July 1955 was 76.2° F, making it the coolest July in Fresno records.
1911: Kentfield (Marin Co.) had a low temperature of 32° F.
