On This Date In California Weather History...

2009: It rained in San Diego for the last time for 164 days.
This day marks the last day of measurable rain, and the start of a consecutive dry streak of 164 days, which started on 6.17.
This streak of 164 days is tied as the fourth longest dry streak on San Diego record.
(The longest dry streak on record is 182 days from 4.18.2004 to 10.16.2004).

1995: 1.08 inches of rain fell in Idyllwild, the greatest daily amount on record for June.
Daily records were set across the region for the area rainfall during a rare off-season storm.
The Angels' home game at Anaheim Stadium against the Chicago White Sox was rained out.
This was the last time this has occurred (as of April, 2008), a period of nearly 13 years.

1981: The temperature at San Diego hit 100°, one of only two days in June that readings of 100° or more have been reached (the other day: 6.10.1979).
Highest minimum temperature records were set in San Diego each day for 11 consecutive days starting on this day.

1961: Bakersfield reached 113 degrees for a high for the second day in a row.
Record highs were set from the 14th through the 17th and still stand in the book.

1921: Yosemite Valley received a trace of snow, latest in the season on record.

1917: The temperature of 124° at Mecca climaxed the most destructive heat wave of record in California history.
