[californiadisasters] Admin Read: Heads Up!

Achtung Gruppe!

This morning a Los Angeles judge sentenced former B.A.R.T. PD officer Johannes Mehserle to the minimum sentence of two years minus time served which is nearly 300 days for involuntary manslaughter in the now infamous Oakland B.A.R.T. station shooting of Oscar Grant nearly two years ago.

The defendant is a white dude and the victim was a black dude so this will not sit well with folks who can only see events in the context of race, particularly those opportunistic types looking for a provocation to run amok and riot.

It is unfortunate this happened headed into the weekend but it is good that inclimate weather is on tap for the Bay Area. Nonetheless, unrest is possible as occurred right after the event happened in January, 2009.

Stay tuned here for anything that might happen and those of you privy to events in Oakland and elsewhere pertaining to any unrest are invited to share with this group any updates you have for us.
