[californiadisasters] Loop Fire 44th Anniversary

Two weeks ago yesterday was the 44th anniversary of the tragic Loop Fire blow-up in Pacoima Canyon on the Angeles National Forest.

That day the El Cariso Hotshots got entrapped in a blow-up situation caused by a spot fire that developed below them as they worked mid-slope without a safety zone.

Ten hotshots were killed immediately at the scene and two others later died of their burns while most of the 19 remaining hotshots were critically burned.
